Local Planning Applications
The parish council is not a planning authority and as such does not make final decisions on planning applications; this is the responsibility of Rother District Council. However, the parish council has a right to receive notification of all planning applications relating to the parish and if comments are submitted the district council
must take them into account when determining the application. The parish council is also able to request and comment on any application made within the District.
Each week the parish receives a copy of the ‘weekly list’ which details all applications received in the District and also a copy, including plans etc, of any applications relating to Salehurst & Robertsbridge. The local newspaper, Battle Observer, also lists planning applications. The ‘weekly lists’ and the current parish planning applications can be viewed at the Parish Council Office or on the Rother DC web site at www.rother.gov.uk. Planning applications are considered by the Parish Council Planning Committee, which meets monthly, or in a few instances where Rother District Council need the parish comment before our next meeting, they are dealt with under delegated powers by the Clerk, in consultation with the Chairman or Vice Chairman.
To view details of planning applications relating to the parish (back to June 2003) and any comments made by the Parish Council, please choose from the search options
below; decisions made by Rother DC can be viewed on their web site or, if available, at the Parish Office but please be aware that if there are delays for any reason, it can be some months before the parish finds out the District Council decision.
